Forensic Nursing Conference Coming July 2019 to Indianapolis

The Academy of Forensic Nursing will present its Regional Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana July 15-16, 2019. The conference is entitled "Beyond the Bedside: Increasing the Footprint of Forensic Nursing".

The conference will cover the roles played by forensic nurses in the health care environment, the community, and beyond. Experts in the field will shed light on broader topics impacted for forensic nursing, such as abuse and neglect.

Topics include:

• The intersection of animal abuse, child abuse, and intimate partner violence.
• Research on IPV
• Elder abuse
• Domestic violence fatality review teams
• Resource utilization in research

Court Case Update

FINGERPRINT EVIDENCE went through a nearly three-year ordeal in the New Hampshire court system, but eventually emerged unscathed. On April 4, 2008, the New Hampshire Supreme Court unanimously reversed the decision of a lower court to exclude expert testimony regarding fingerprint evidence in the case of The State of New Hampshire v. Richard Langill. The case has been remanded back to the Rockingham County Superior Court.
