Scholarships Available for 2020 EVAWI International Conference

The EVAWI (End Violence Against Women International) organization recently announced that the Academy of Forensic Nursing (AFN) is sponsoring five professionals to attend their 2020 International Conference in Washington, DC.

The following scholarships will be awarded:

• 3 Forensic Nursing Scholarships
• 1 Law Enforcement Scholarship
• 1 Prosecutor Scholarship

Each scholarship will cover the full cost of the conference registration. If you have a grant, you can check with your program manager to see if grant funds can be used to cover any travel expenses.

The 2020 International Conference on Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, and Violence Across the Lifespan will be held April 14-16, 2020 in Washington, DC. The conference brings together law enforcement personnel, prosecutors, victim advocates, judges, parole and probation officers, rape crisis workers, health care professionals, faith community members, educators, researchers, and others to highlight promising practices and emerging issues to effectively respond to these crimes in all communities.

Forensic Podiatry (Part Two of Two)

THE DISCIPLINE of forensic podiatry—or, in other words, the examination of pedal evidence—has progressed significantly over the past ten years. It is no longer a question of “What can you do with a footprint?” but rather, “Who can we use to evaluate the footprint?” Cases involving pedal evidence, especially bloody footprints and issues of determining shoe sizing or fit issues compared to questioned footwear, have become more common over the past two or three years.
